The Project – Brunel Building
Derwent London’s Brunel Building is a 16-storey new-build workplace designed by Fletcher Priest Architects. Located in Paddington, London, Brunel Building overlooks the Grand Union Canal and Paddington Station, which is the London terminus to the Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s Great Western Railway, and next to the site of Brunel’s first-ever bridge.
Featuring a striking geometric façade, Brunel Building is a landmark commercial structure with two basement levels and two large roof terraces. A symbol of architectural excellence, Brunel Building achieved a BREEAM Excellent rating, Wired Platinum rating and a LEED Gold rating.
Client requirements (challenge)
Prior to engaging EDocuments as the chosen platform, the client had been using another platform.
As with all projects, accurate handover information was key on this project. It was essential that the client could identify and locate data quickly and efficiently to enable decision making.
Furthermore, the handover information had to be easily updateable whilst recording an event history of all updates carried out, thus providing the client with the confidence and assurance on who provided what and when.
Project scope (what we delivered & how)
Utilising the EDocuments platform, a full suite of industry compliant documents including health & safety file, O&M manuals, building logbook and BREEAM building user guides were created.
As a BIM Level 2 project, EDocuments was responsible for linking asset information to the detailed BIM model. Linking O&M information to the model reduces the risk of error and provides accurate, up-to-date information.
EDocuments’ dedicated team successfully managed the entire process of collating the necessary information, supporting the client’s teams as and when needed.
The client continues to host all project information online. With some very simple training, the client has the scope to add additional projects if and when new programmes of work are completed or information updated.
Key processes (outcome / benefits)
EDocuments is giving the client full visibility of accurate information that will enable key decision-making. Ben Thompson Operations Manager at Derwent London said: “EDocuments’ team are very supportive, responsive and knowledgeable. The platform is easy to use and enables swift information retrieval, which means we can find information easily. This saves a huge amount of time when conducting analysis and so on”.
