EDocuments’s new integration with Autodesk Construction Cloud®, a portfolio of software and services that combines advanced technology, a builders network and predictive insights for construction teams, is now available in the Autodesk App Store.
Now, construction teams can import construction documents managed in Autodesk® Build, Autodesk® Docs, and BIM 360® into EDocuments. By setting up rules within the platform, project managers can automate the process, ensuring that only the files meeting specific criteria are replicated in EDocuments. This powerful integration minimises the need for duplicate uploads, allowing data to be entered once for use in both solutions, ultimately saving valuable time and effort.
Streamlining the Digital Handover Process
Creating digital handover documentation and Operation & Maintenance manuals (O&Ms) can be a time-consuming task involving multiple platforms and processes. With the new integration, transferring files between Autodesk Construction Cloud and EDocuments has never been easier. The automation of this file transfer process streamlines digital handover, helping reduce manual data entry and potential errors, making it an essential tool for efficiently creating and managing Digital Handover Documentation.
How It Works
The integration offers a flexible approach to transferring documents. When working within the EDocuments platform, project managers can link to their Autodesk Construction Cloud account using their Autodesk ID. From there, they can select the specific files or folders they wish to fetch. The EDocuments platform securely authenticates to users’ Autodesk Construction Cloud accounts to ensure secure access to the projects, hubs, and folders. Once a folder is selected, users can import files from their projects, streamlining the entire data transfer process.
Configurable and Intelligent File Transfer
What sets the integration apart is the ability to configure workflows that automatically validate and select files based on predefined criteria. For instance, you can set rules to filter the documents before they are moved into EDocuments, ensuring that only relevant files are included. This automated process doesn't just stop at file transfer; it also extracts and validates embedded metadata, integrating it into the digital handover documentation within the EDocuments platform.
Enhancing Building Data Management
The EDocuments "3D Model Health Checker" also extracts comprehensive data from 3D models, including categories, families, types, instances, and attributes, and then structures the information. This extracted data can be cross-referenced with a database of attribute requirements, providing an additional layer of quality control for your building data.
