BIM and COBie
What is BIM and COBie?
BIM and COBie are often lumped together as a process /deliverable on construction projects.
BIM - Building Information Modelling (BIM) defines that the process to follow through planning, design, construction and management of building and infrastructure projects.
COBie - COBie standing for (Construction Operations Building Information Exchange) is a way to transfer data between software platforms, and often is conveniently viewable as a Microsoft Excel Workbook.
COBie is a spreadsheet data set that focuses on the non-geometric data of a building. For most users, COBie focuses on the “asset data”.
COBie is an important part of digital handover and, if done correctly, it will lead to an improved level of information and greater accuracy of the data.
Bring your data to life
Connect O&M information to 3D models
Simplify navigation around your O&M. Import, update, export and deliver standard asset register formats including COBie.
Enhancing your handover information and how it can be filtered is a great way to utilise a geospatial 3D model.
At EDocuments, we collect and store data in a structured format, making it easy to connect beyond our software. This allows us to create:
- Asset registers including COBie format
- Connect to 3D models, 360 panoramas, external Common Data Environments (CDEs) and Computer Aided Facility Management (CAFM) software
